MEET CHANDRA L. MYERS

As a military child, Chandra learned the value of service from her father, SMSgt Emmett O. Phillips, who honorably served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force.

Although her family moved every two years and lived throughout the U.S. and overseas (Kadena AFB, Okinawa, Japan, Taiwan, Incirlik, Turkey, Germany, and Greece), she considers Sandusky, Ohio her home, because that’s where her grandparents and other family members lived.

Chandra’s parents instilled the values of faith, family, service, and integrity and these are the values she will bring to the City of Clermont.

U.S. Army

Chandra attended Central State University, studying business administration with a concentration in finance. She met her future husband, Vernon, as a freshman, and after graduation, they married and started life as an Army family.

Chandra’s leadership abilities were displayed early as she led a Family Readiness Group for a Light Infantry Company in the 3rd Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Rakkasans), and as a Brownie Leader for a local Girl Scout Troop.

The couple had two daughters and decided to homeschool both girls, which undergirds Chandra’s respect for education and teachers. While in Gainesville, Chandra co-led a homeschool group to support families embarking on the homeschooling journey.

Arriving in Clermont in 2004, on assignment orders from the U.S. Army, Chandra has continued to serve by serving as a Women’s Church Board member and as a member of the City of Clermont Code Enforcement Board.

The family traveled to Seoul, South Korea to celebrate Vernon’s promotion to Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Army in 2009.

LTC Promotion Ceremony

In 2015, Chandra was selected as the Chairwoman of the City of Clermont Code Enforcement Board, where she focused on treating all residents fairly while enforcing city codes.

In 2023, Chandra volunteered to serve on the City of Clermont Code Enforcement Board, where she continues to serve the residents by ensuring they have a voice within the city government.

When Chandra is not serving in a leadership capacity in church or local government, she enjoys spending time with her family and reading the word of God.

Chandra seeks to continue working for the people of Clermont by being elected for Seat #4 on the Clermont City Council.
